I define my artwork as an amalgam of my senses and intuitive experiences to the world around me. A manifestation between my outer and inner worlds.
How does the region influence your art?
I am influenced mainly by two regions—the desert border region of El Paso (my original home) and the forests in the Hudson Valley of New York (my current home). One complements the other as I often feel that I cannot be without living in both simultaneously. The desert and its political backdrop have taught me agency and fortitude. The forest has taught me instinct and stillness. The two worlds are merging slowly, despite their geographical distance, and eventually, meet in the same place. The visions I have for this convergence may be in a large public project and/or an artist residency.
